Terms of Service

Last updated: August 20, 2026

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the Lynx Discord bot, the websites and dashboards provided under the lynxbot.org domain, and all related features and services (collectively, the "Service").

The Service is provided by its individual operator (the "Operator"). The Service is an independent project: it is not affiliated with, operated by, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc., and it is not a product of any company.

By adding the bot to a Discord server, using any of its features, or signing in to the web dashboard, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

In these Terms, the following words have the following meanings:

  • "Bot" means the Lynx Discord bot application and its commands and background features.
  • "Dashboard" means the websites provided under lynxbot.org, including the web dashboard used to configure the Bot.
  • "Server Administrator" means any person who adds the Bot to a Discord server, or who holds permissions in that server allowing them to enable, disable, or configure the Bot's features.
  • "User" means any person who interacts with the Service or whose Discord activity is processed by it, including members of servers where the Bot is installed.
  • "Content" means any message, image, file, or other material submitted by Users on Discord or through the Service.
2. Eligibility and Acceptance

You may use the Service only if you meet the minimum age required to use Discord in your country or region, and only in accordance with Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If you are a minor, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If you accept these Terms on behalf of a Discord server, you represent that you have the authority to do so for that server.

Server Administrators are responsible for informing the members of their server that the Bot is in use, which features are enabled, and how those features process members' messages and activity. The Operator provides these Terms and the Privacy Policy publicly so that Server Administrators can share them with their members.

3. Description of the Service

Lynx is a multi-purpose Discord bot. Its features include, for example and without limitation:

  • Server protection: anti-nuke, anti-raid, behavioral anomaly detection, panic mode, lockdown, quarantine, permission monitoring, voice protection, honeypot, and security scanning.
  • Moderation: automatic moderation (AutoMod) and filters, phishing and scam-link detection, ghost-ping detection, join gate, member verification (captcha / web verification), moderation logs, case management, escalation, appeals, temporary display of deleted or edited messages (snipe), and temporary preservation of deleted media.
  • Community features: tickets, modmail, suggestions, starboard, sticky messages, autoresponder, embed builder, welcome messages, automatic and self-assignable roles, leveling and rank cards, counter channels, invite tracking, birthdays, highlights, temporary voice channels, event management, quote images, streaming and social notifications, music playback, utility commands, and server statistics and reports.
  • Web features: sign-in with a Discord account, a configuration dashboard for servers, setup wizard and presets, backup and restore of server settings, user profile and preferences, login history and new-sign-in alerts, two-factor authentication (2FA), and documentation.

The set of features may change at any time. Features may be added, modified, or removed without prior notice.

Except where expressly stated otherwise, the Service is currently provided free of charge. The Operator may introduce optional paid features in the future; no feature that is free today is guaranteed to remain available or free.

4. Accounts and Sign-In

The Dashboard uses Discord's OAuth2 sign-in. You are responsible for the security of your own Discord account and for all activity performed through it, including actions taken in the Dashboard.

The Dashboard offers optional security features such as two-factor authentication and login notifications. Using them is recommended but remains your choice and your responsibility.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation, or of Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines;
  • use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, or harm any person, or to distribute unlawful, infringing, or malicious Content;
  • abuse, overload, or disrupt the Service, attempt to bypass rate limits or security measures, or gain unauthorized access to any part of it;
  • reverse engineer, copy, resell, or exploit the Service or any part of it, except where such a restriction is prohibited by law;
  • use the Service's moderation or security tools to target people in bad faith, or configure them in a way intended to cause harm;
  • impersonate the Operator or misrepresent your affiliation with the Service.
6. Role and Responsibility of Server Administrators

The Bot only acts within a server according to the configuration chosen by that server's Server Administrators. Which features are enabled, how strict automatic moderation is, what actions are taken (for example warnings, timeouts, kicks, bans, or message deletion), and who may use which commands are all decisions made by Server Administrators, not by the Operator.

Accordingly, all moderation and administrative actions carried out by the Bot within a server are carried out on behalf of, and under the responsibility of, that server's Server Administrators and moderators. The Operator does not direct, review, or control those decisions, is not a party to disputes between Users and server staff, and does not act as an arbiter of server-internal conflicts.

Server Administrators are responsible for using the Service in a way that complies with the laws applicable to them, to their server, and to their members, including obtaining any consent from their members that may be required in their jurisdiction.

7. User Content

Content remains the property and the responsibility of the person who posted it. The Service processes Content solely to provide its features (for example moderation, logging, or tickets) as described in the Privacy Policy.

The Operator does not pre-screen Content and has no general obligation to monitor it. The Operator is not responsible for Content posted by Users, for the accuracy of any information contained in it, or for any harm resulting from it.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service runs on top of the Discord platform and interacts with other third-party services, for example when playing music from external platforms, showing notifications for streaming or social platforms, or protecting the websites through an infrastructure provider.

Those third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies. The Operator does not control them and is not responsible for their availability, content, decisions, or conduct. If you use a feature that relies on a third-party platform, you are responsible for complying with that platform's terms.

9. Availability, Maintenance, and Data

The Operator aims to keep the Service available and stable, but the Service is provided without any guarantee of uptime. It may be interrupted, degraded, or unavailable at any time, for example due to maintenance, updates, failures, actions of Discord or other third parties, or events outside the Operator's control.

Backups may be made for operational purposes, but the preservation of any specific data (including configurations, logs, levels, or transcripts) is not guaranteed. You should not treat the Service as the sole storage location for anything important to you.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

In particular, the Operator does not warrant that automatic moderation, verification, anti-phishing, or any other protective feature will be accurate or complete. Such features can produce both false positives (acting against legitimate users or content) and false negatives (failing to act against harmful users or content). They are assistance tools, and the final responsibility for moderation always lies with each server's staff.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities, arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, the Service.

To the same extent, the Operator shall not be liable for damage arising from: (a) moderation or administrative actions performed by the Bot according to a server's configuration; (b) decisions or conduct of Server Administrators, moderators, or other Users; (c) Content posted by Users; (d) third-party services, including Discord; (e) interruption, modification, or termination of the Service or loss of data; or (f) unauthorized access that occurs despite reasonable security measures.

Because the Service is provided free of charge, the Operator's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall be limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to liability, or, where a monetary cap is not permitted, to the minimum extent of liability permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. In particular, where you use the Service as a consumer, these limitations do not apply to damage caused by the Operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence.

12. Indemnification

If a third party raises a claim against the Operator arising out of your use of the Service, your Content, your violation of these Terms, your violation of applicable law, or — in the case of Server Administrators — the way you configured or operated the Bot in your server, you agree to indemnify and hold the Operator harmless from the resulting damages, reasonable costs, and expenses, to the extent such claim is attributable to you.

13. Suspension and Termination

The Operator may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service — for a User, a server, or in general — at any time, in particular where these Terms or Discord's terms are violated, where the integrity or security of the Service is at risk, or where required to comply with law. Where reasonable, notice will be given, but it is not a precondition.

You may stop using the Service at any time by removing the Bot from your server or ceasing to use the Dashboard.

Provisions which by their nature should survive termination (including the sections on user content, warranties, liability, indemnification, governing law, and language) survive any termination.

14. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

The Operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time.

The Operator may also amend these Terms. The current version, with its "last updated" date, is always published on this page; material changes will be announced in an appropriate manner (for example on the website or the support server). Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms. If you do not agree with a change, stop using the Service.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be deemed replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its purpose.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

For any dispute relating to the Service, the court having jurisdiction over the Operator's place of residence in Japan shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.

17. Language

These Terms are published in multiple languages for convenience. If there is any inconsistency between the Japanese version and a version in another language, the Japanese version prevails to the extent permitted by applicable law.

18. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be raised on the official support Discord server: https://discord.gg/pG2rn8SZdD
